Abstract

Literacy in the Independent Curriculum is the main focus developed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbud). Increasing literacy in this curriculum includes abilities and skills in reading, writing, arithmetic, and solving problems that are relevant to everyday life. This research aims to develop E-book Teaching Materials to increase student literacy. The research method used is research and development (R&D) 4-D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The needs analysis stage consists of problem analysis, learning objective analysis, context analysis, and content analysis. The research subjects were high school students in West Sumatra in 2024. The results of the validity test showed that the product material aspect got a score of 83.3%, the product media aspect 85.3%, and the product language aspect 88%, with an average of 91.55 %, so the product is declared very valid. The practicality test showed that the teacher's results were 89.6% and the students' results were 94.72%. The t-test results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the scores before and after treatment, with a t-value of -7.753 and a p-value of 0.000 (smaller than the alpha level of 0.05). Overall, it can be concluded that the development of e-book teaching materials is valid, practical and effective in increasing student literacy in secondary schools.
